WHY I DO WHAT I DO

Firefighting is reactive and focused on short-term results; it prevents companies from surviving and developing. People within organisations don’t set out to firefight, it can appear because:

• A company is focussing on survival
• The people within the organization are not pulling in the same direction
• People have too much work to do and are finding it difficult to prioritise
• There is a lack of clarity regarding job roles and responsibilities
• There is nobody working “on” the business but rather everyone is working “in” the business

Firefighting can be difficult to stop. It requires the skill of a second pair of eyes to move the business away from firefighting towards proactive business management.

HOW I DO IT

I, alongside associates if necessary, work with business owners, directors and employees to stop firefighting by using one, some, or all of the following services:

1. Consultancy, including interim general management services, provides critical strategies, skills and knowledge to enable the business to survive and develop.
2. Coaching people how to be more organized, productive and effective,
3. Mediation to resolve challenging issues in the workplace, which are contributing to the frenetic working environment.
4. Training is provided when employees need to learn specific skills, such as: conflict management techniques, performance management and coaching.

WHO AM I

I am an experienced small business operator and a qualified coach and commercial mediator. I have spent 16 years leading niche leisure, hospitality and tourism businesses, ranging from leisure centres, fitness clubs, yacht clubs, hotels and conference and event businesses in the UK and the Far East.  I am passionate about, and experienced at, turning small businesses around. I have extensive experience in coaching executives and management level staff. Plus, I have mediated, and resolved, many conflict situations.
